Oriental Theatre is built.
1929
Architect: Krokyn, Browne & Rosenstein. Initially operated by Jacob Lourie and Sam Pinanski, it seats 3,000 and is located at 1601 Blue Hill Avenue. Designed with a Chinese theme, it features Oriental sculptures in niches along the interior walls, a Hocmuth Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ, and a ceiling projection of stars and clouds in a night sky. The theater closes with a screening of Diamonds Are Forever in 1971, and the building later becomes home of the Capitol Electric Supply Company.
